Rangappa Hogbitna….is a rare incident based story. In the normal cases of traditional family when the elders are at the death bed they express their wish of seeing everyone connected to the film. That is a serious issue but in this ‘Rangappa Hogbitna’ it is dramatized to give a comedy film.
As the news spreads Rangappa is on the verge of death all the relatives and his friends throng his house thinking that Rangappa has gone. All those who come here forget about Rangappa condition and indulge in their activities. First one to come is the gang of friends of Rangappa. They declare that the wish of Rangappa is to organize a ‘Laughing session’. They erect a stage and conduct a laughing session with mike system at one corner. The eldest son Suresh (Ravikiran) comes with his wife who is averse to all such happenings around. She locks herself in one of the room in the house. A doctor who comes to examine Rangappa is lost in something else. The close relative younger brother of Rangappa with his daughter at this place finds problems with two young person’s roaming around, the granddaughter of Rangappa has fallen in love with a youth who has accidentally swallowed intoxicated tablet, there is a road side drunkard who often comes here to dance before the dead body, one more uncle is after money for meeting all requirements for people at home, a few on urgency with a garland says they have to rush the office and hand over the garland to place it on Rangappa after he breathes his last, Purohits at this place wants ‘Mruthyunjaya’ Homa to get back Rangappa to normalcy. In addition to all problems the second set up of Rangappa an eunuch comes to blackmail for huge ransom.
All these developments are happening in the house of Ramesha (Ramesh Aravind) who is henpecked like his elder brother Suresha. Ramesha wife Sneha (Sanjaana) is having a big headache of all the relatives thronging. She wants the sharing of expenses at this moment equally. Nothing positive is happening for Ramesha.
In the climax Rangappa who is placed in front of the house gets up to say God has sent him to stay back on earth for thirty more years.
